US EPA proposed to approve new fungicide ai oxathiapiprolin

The US EPA has proposed to approve a new fungicide active ingredient oxathiapiprolin for foliar and soil uses. The registration applications were submitted by DuPont and Syngenta Crop Protection. According to the applications, oxathiapiprolin is proposed to use for foliar or soil food uses on brassica, onion, cucurbit, peas, some other vegetables, greenhouse ornamental plants and tobacco. In addition, tolerances will be established to cover all the food uses. EPA noted that the proposed ornamental and turf labels are intended for use only by professional applicators (restricted against home applications).

Oxathiapiprolin, comes from piperidinyl thiazole isoxazoline class of fungicides, is a new fungicide with novel mode of action which developed by DuPont. Syngenta has obtained a global license from DuPont to develop products containing oxathiapiprolin in 2013 and plans to market it under brand name Orondis™. Syngenta expected the potential sales value of oxathiapiprolin will exceed $300 million.
