Orion lança ferramenta digital para mapear nematóides
Brazilian company Orion Tecnologia e Sistemas Agrícolas announced the launch of a digital tool for nematode mapping. It is an online platform that allows access to satellite images on RGB and infrared in a simple, quick and cost-effective manner.
Through these images, it is possible to locate, visualize and georeference the existent anomalies in a determined area in any part of the planet, speeding up and reducing the samples collection. Mapping the nematode reefers is one of the alternatives available to the producer to take a better decision on combating the plague on the soil. According to the Brazilian Society of Nematology, the plague causes losses of nearly R$35 billion per year to producers.
The CYGNI AG portal was presented during the Agrishow Fair, which was held in the city of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, between April 30 and May 4. According to Alexandre e Silva Santiago, financial director at Orion, this new tool can reduce costs through a local application and avoid wastage of the products in areas where no nematodes are present.
“Besides the big economy, there is also a huge reduction in the environmental costs caused unnecessarily when the application is applied to a total area, so that nematodes are distributed just in reefers and not in the total area,” explained Santiago.
According to Orion, when this technology is added to the application equipment located in the groover, up to 80% of the application can be saved through the use of inputs.
Agronomist Thiago de Almeida Prado, executive-director at CYGNI, noted the benefits of the technology were many.
“Besides the large savings on product and cash, the farmer will have better visibility of his crop, being able to manage it with better efficiency and assertiveness, maximizing and optimizing the products and the operation,” he concluded.
