DowDuPont lança o herbicida pós-emergente Missil no Brasil

Corteva Agriscience, the DowDuPont agricultural division that will become independent in June 2019, this month launched the herbicide, Missil (Haloxyfop-P-methyl), which is the only post-emergent and selective graminicide in the Brazilian market.According to the maker, the formulation based on Haloxyfop-P-methyl brings a greater effectiveness to the product when combating weeds, such as grass and narrow leaves.

It has inhibitors of lipid synthesis belonging to the A group, according to the international classification of the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC).Missil is recommended for the control of invasive plants in plantations of eucalyptus, pine and black acacia. It can be applied after germination and in any stage of these trees. In these three species, the herbicide controls ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) and Brachiaria.

The product can be sprayed through tractor-pushed or aerial. The application should not reach susceptible economic crops, such as corn, rice, sorghum, and sugarcane. The Brazilian forest sector firms have since 2015 worked to get Missil registered as a “relevant agrochemical”.

“We trust that the launch of our portfolio, mainly the Missil herbicide, will be a success because it has an action mechanism that will amplify the productivity like no other can today,” said Neivaldo Caceres, Research and Development Manager of the DowDuPont division in Brazil. This technology will also be available in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, and Turkey.
